Last week I was discussing a defunct central London pub with a friend, when I ended up walking in Google Street View, as one does when trying to summon a place that memory stubbornly withholds. Specifically, I was after the spot where from 2006 to 2014 stood The Intrepid Fox.1 I dropped the orange Google guy at the intersection of Denmark Street and Charing Cross Road, and started my journey north, planning to turn east shortly, as I recalled the Fox being somewhere south of Centre Point.2 I pressed the mouse button a couple of times and to my (pleasant) surprise the Google Street View captures jolted from 2022 to 2008, as visible in the video below, at about six seconds in.3
